Review of Natsume's Book of Friends
Thanks Jex for the recommendation. At the beginning when I first began watching anime I couldn't bare to watch a single episodic show. I always found them as slow and less plot driven then other shows, but as I watched more anime such as Mushishi, Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, and Violet Evergarden I come to appreciate the slow and meditative nature of these shows. In terms of a comparison between this show and another there is no better example then Mushishi. Both are calming and often serious and they both deal with fantasy elements or entities that effect the world around them. In thecase of Mushishi, it was less about the mushishi them selfs, but it was more focused on how the mushishi effected the people. In the case of Natsume the anime is focused on the Youkai and how they effect the main character.
Story 9/10 - i need more tears.
The story is pretty good in this show. I do get kind of board of the modern day Japan setting, but this one was fun because it had less school elements than other shows. The best thing about an episodic shows is the individual stories that each episode tells. Much like Mushishi, Natsume is very good at this.
Art 7/10
Its an old anime, the animation isn't too good, but I like its simplistic style.
