Review of Gintama
Despite its 4:3 ratio and dated style, Gintama deserves its place at a 9. If I were a more generous reviewer, it would receive a 10. It had dull arcs. At times I felt myself being forced to finish it. However, certain arcs were truly masterpieces. This show spans the realm of black comedy and the depths of evil, while at other times displaying the values of love and brotherhood. It's beauty lies in the dynamic characters that never lose their most basic values. They are dependable, and I take comfort in that. I cannot recall another show that has made me laugh so hard. After certainscenes I have said aloud to myself "that is the most adorable thing I've ever heard."
If you find yourself struggling to finish all 201 episodes, my advice is to keep trudging. There are gems within this series that would be a dire mistake to miss.
