Review of Overlord II
Even better than the first season. While the review may seem a bit high, you have to take the show for what it is. It's still just an isekai. You aren't going to watch it for explorative themes. If you come in hoping for that, you'll be disappointed. if you expect an isekai pseudo-power fantasy, you'll love it. Ains is a great character and his inner monolog is as goofily charming as ever. It does wonders at making him feel like the awkward nerd who whaled on an MMO. He and his subordinates are just as cool as ever, the fights are good enoughand some are excellent. The world-building is still very good, especially for an isekai, and the fights still feel like proper PvP in MMO's. And the show does an amazing job of building up every character. Even random ones who serve no purpose besides being there for another still feel real and interesting.
my only real complaint is the CGI. I understand budget restraints and deadlines, but that doesn't change the fact the CGI isn't very good-looking. I don't feel its bad or overused enough to detract from the show in any major way, but its still ugly.
