Review of Sword Art Online
THERE IS ONE MINOR SPOILER IN THIS REVIEW. I loved this show, I thought it was great. Sword Art Online was on of the first animes that I watched and it was a great introduction into the world of anime. You get invested right away with wanting all of the characters you meet to make their way out of Aincrad. You follow our main character Kirito and how he tries to survive this death game. Because the story only follows Kirito you don't get to see much of the supporting cast doing anything other than talking to Kirito. The fight scenes you get are energetic andfast paced and are animated pretty well throughout the series. You don't really get any filler in this show which is also a plus. The romance that blooms between Kirito and Asuna is so cute and pure, but at times a bit intense. The first half of the show is much better than the second half. But that doesn't mean that the second half is by any means bad. Some Negatives I have about SAO is that is about half of the fight scenes that they set up throughout the show you don't get to see, they just jump right to the next scene. They give you a 2 year time skip within the game, so you don't get to see how the characters had to survive for the first two years that they were stuck in Aincrad. They also kind of gloss over the progression of Kirito and Asuna's romantic relationship. After a certain point in the show Kirito and Asuna are just together. But I would've liked to see more on how they got there. Also last but not least the RAPE SCENE that happens in the second half of the show, could've and should've been left out entirely. But overall I give Sword Art Online a 10/10. I really did enjoy this show.
