Review of Fate/stay night: Heaven's Feel - II. Lost Butterfly
This movie is more about Emiya Shirou's determination not to win The Holy Grail War but to help the ones he loves than one about mages and mythical heroes. Since the very beginning of the film, Shirou is not wretched for losing the war but for losing his Servant and still he is willing to help his allies. The movie still focuses on Sakura Matou, especially on her past –if you have seen Fate/Zero you will not be surprised but at least you will be provided more details on that-. As we are revealed the dark secrets of Sakura's past, Shirou will realize why he wantsto protect her, Shirou will realize he loves her and do everything for her to live a happy life.
The final act of this film turns it into a horror movie as it shows the darkest side of mages and heroic spirits involving gore and sexual violence.
Although the main themes of the fate series are magecraft and the battle among heroes from history and literature, these lore items are used to tell a story about the horrors of the world but how can love save us from heading the wrong path.
