Review of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Entertainment District Arc
A Flamboyant Masterpiece to the very end. The anime truly adapted this incredible arc from the manga and somehow exceeded my very high expectations. I love how patient it was in portraying the aftermath of Mugen Train in the first few episodes and the quick build up really hyped up what was to come. The fight scenes were all very intense and elevated the manga's fights as a whole. As a manga reader, despite knowing what would happen, I was brought to the edge of my seat more often than not The animation and soundtrack are flashy and dazzling to see. Tengen's sound breathing was verydifficult to visualize in the manga (at least in comparison to other breathing styles) yet the anime truly did elevate it to be as flashy as the character claims to be. The anime follows up on the soundtrack style of Mugen Train where the respective themes of the hero and villain clash with each other.
The voice acting is simply breathtaking to listen to. You can really feel the emotion and struggle from fight scenes and during the emotional scenes. The dub voice actors will certainly have a tall mountain to surpass
The story progresses at a quicker pace than it in initially did at season 1. You can really feel the growth of the main cast and I like how the villains, Gyutaro and Daki, are written, in the sense that they are humanized through their backstory but at the same time you don't feel sympathy for them due to the severity of their actions. Its a good change of pace from how season 1 would get you to feel sympathy for almost every demon they face.
Overall, I would definitely recommend keeping your friends hostage and letting them watch this masterpiece of a season. Season 1 was good, Mugen Train was memorable but Entertainment District just brings a whole new perspective on what Ufotable's potential can be
As of writing, season 3 has been announced and I very much look forward to how Ufotable decides to adapt it
