This review is spoiler free. So, the big hyped-up anime, Chainsaw Man. I’ve rated it one star above the rating I gave on the manga simply because the adaptation was well done, considering that I didn’t even think this would get an animation or if it did, it would be a clunky CGI one like Ajin or other animes that I won’t name. The animators did a good job in merging 2D and 3D in a way that wasn’t displeasing to watch, this helps pave the path for the amalgam of 2D and 3D which can lead to better effects while easing the extreme workload thatthe animators across Japan have.

It's full of the things I enjoy in any medium, blood, gore and guts! Partial jokes aside, it’s packed with action but the character development and major plot lines that generally pique my interest in other stories fall flat. The main character is quite honestly boring and simple-minded, most of the other characters also feel devoid of humanity. Naturally, this could be a symptom of literally sacrificing their own lives to face demons and having their family members and friends die. It’s a standardized shounen with more aggression… characters as dumb and stale as the ones presented in Dragon Ball with the violence of Jujutsu Kaisen/Akame Ga Kill. At least in this first season.

My ratings are based on my enjoyment of the anime in a very general way and I did enjoy watching Chainsaw Man, despite knowing what happened and will happen.

Overall, I recommend it for someone who’s getting more into anime as this will surely make them wanna watch more. Not recommended for those who prefer more psychological or plot-driven stories.
