Review of given

Given was a really refreshing show to watch for me, it handled heavy themes but in a delicate way which was enjoyable to watch. There is beauty in its simplicity but it is just engaging enough to leave you wanting more. Everything happened at a natural pace and was quite believable The animation and character design was superb albeit Ritsuka and Mafuyu's character design felt oddly reminiscent of the two main characters of haikyuu! but that's just me probably. The animation was especially a treat when they playing music which is great cos its band anime after all. The main characters development happened at agood pace and all the characters are genuinely likeable. I think the best thing for me was how pure and innocently Mafuyu and Ritsuka's relationship is portrayed, I'm not going to lie when i realized that given was bl I got kinda nervous as too often LGBTQ especially gay relationships are portrayed in fetishy and often unsavoury ways. However much to my delight their relationship was portrayed as what it is, two young boys in love.
The music is also fantastic, the opening really fits the show and lyrics relate so much to the content I actually looked forward to listening to it when I watched. Overall I really really enjoyed given and would highly recommend
