My Girlfriend Is 8 Meters Tall · review
Spoiler warning
This review may discuss plot details.
It's a cute and wholesome story about a girl who suddenly scaled up in size in an adolescence-syndrome-like fashion, and includes the cliché high-school romance manga scenarios (gym locker, summer festival, beach hangout, night pool, etc.). To those with a sick fetish of giant women, this anime provides a generous supply of fan service material that won't disappoint. However, the manga is such a cute and fun read that it won't disappoint viewers who aren't into giant girls. The art is simple, consistent (for the most part), and pleasant to the eyes, and the characters are expressive, though the scenery can look generic from timeto time. One gripe I would have with the show would be that the fact that there's an entire organization to deal with such a bizarre scenario feels like strong plot armor to me, and a missed opportunity for character development.
It's worth giving a read if you have the time to kill for a romance story that's around 2-3 anime seasons long. It's not as gross as you think it would be, it's just a regular romance manga with a huge twist (pun intended).
I feel like I'm being generous with this rating, but since Chieri is 8m tall, this manga gets 8*
