Review of given

I can’t believe I discovered this anime through TikTok but I’m not complaining because this is such a beautiful, heartfelt anime. I just added this to my list of ‘Favorite Animes of All Time,’ a list which I haven’t added to in over a year! I also haven’t rated an anime 10/10 in that long either. It’s a perfect mix of comedy, drama, romance and music. I actually didn’t expect it to be so funny! Those unexpected moments made it even more hilarious. There’s also a very specific episode where I just started SOBBING and CRYING out of nowhere, like I was fine one secondand the next tears were falling down my face non-stop but that scene was so emotional and beautiful.

I haven’t seen many Shounen Ai anime before (and anime with a Music genre, I usually watch romance anime) but this one was so great. I loved the story, the characters, character development, music (especially the opening song) and art. it’s a perfect 10/10 for me in all areas, even the rewatch value.

I miss this feeling of being so passionate about an anime and loving the characters and story so much. It’s one of those anime where I'll miss it and after months or years when I get a reminder of ‘Given’ I’ll feel nostalgic and sad because I’ll never get to experience watching it for the first time ever again.

This made me want to watch romance anime and like edit romance anime scenes lol. Like, i’ve never stopped like romance anime but I’ve gotten busy over the years and kind of drifted away from watching anime in general but i’m getting back into watching anime again and i have the urge to watch all the romance anime out there!

Sometimes it’s hard to believe characters are the same because during comedy scenes they seem like completely different people to when they are in more serious scenes but I like that about this anime. ALSO, I love the supporting characters as much as I love the main characters, I ship two certain supporting characters together but I understand that it was best for the anime how they ended up.

So...OKAY. I GET THE HYPE. I UNDERSTAND AND AGREE WITH ALL THE LOVE THIS ANIME HAS BEEN GIVEN (ha see what I did there) I really want to see the movie of 'Given' which was just released in August 2020. I highly recommend that people watch the anime 'Given' because they won't regret it!
