NO SPOILERS: Reading most of the reviews makes me wonder if people actually watch anime to enjoy or to write a review on MAL. May be its a trend to bash the most popular anime of the season. Its no surprise that Demon Slayer does not have a great plot like some other shounen and its majorly one-dimensional. The characters are not very well written and also not given enough time, so that you can sympathize with them. But... 1) I do not find Tanjirou to be your generic shounen protag. Yes he is a good shounen lad who feels sympathy for Demon (Like Naruto and whatever)but he clearly knows what the demons have done and what he has to do. That's why he cuts the head first and then feel sorry for them.
2) Majority of Demon Slayer fans do not watch it for the story because they know that there is no complex plot. I do not feel anime is all about story. Manga has two or three major components - Story-Art Style-Character design. But when it comes to anime, we have to consider components like Animation, CGI and Sound track. Demon Slayer excels in all those area. Its not just individual components but its the epic synergy of all these. Its hard to find such synchronization.
3) Many people said they were bored/didn't care much/ no need for attention. May be that's why you failed to recognise the good things about the anime. People fail to understand what makes anime different from the manga because they focus too much on the plot. So, if you need only plot and just the plot, do not waste your time or money watching DS movies or the series.
4) Lastly, for those who are wondering why Demon Slayer is so popular, because its pure entertainment. The reason why people go back to shounen genre is because it appeals to your inner kid who wants entertainment. The story is not hard to digest. You can watch it whatever mood you are in. They provide us with moments where you feel emotionally overwhelmed or pumped up with some mysterious motivational energy, even for a second. Some moments give you shiver down the spine and some provides you tickles in your bones. Many anime fans watch anime for those precious moments. Demon Slayer is nothing without the epic work of uFotable but together they provided us with moments that can not be forgotten. Episode 19 of Demon Slayer S1 was polished to finest with a perfect synergy of animation, expression, sound track and well-put dialogues. Similar thing happened in S2-Episode 10.

If you can not feel why you actually started watching anime in the first place, I am not surprised why you would be salty in Reviews section and I feel sorry for you. But Demon Slayer's entertainment rating is always 10/10. Peace Out!
