Review of Horimiya
SIMPLE AND WELL EXECUTED Horimiya is a breath of fresh air. The romance genre typically leans towards either being a comedy or a harem, however Horimiya adheres too a more western style romance setting where our two lovers are already close to each other from ep 1. What makes Horimiya truly special is the smooth pacing, instead of showing us intense moments in order to build up characters, Horimiya instead prides itself on smaller key moments that builds the characters over time. The anime also gives a lot more importance and screen time of Hori and Miyamura together which strengthens their relationship making the bond betweenthem seem genuine and not rushed which is impressive for a 13ep anime.
Furthermore the simplicity of Horimiya is one that takes a while to appreciate because unlike other romance series that tackle ideologies and daunting obstacles in a persons life, Horimiya instead simply focuses on the relationship between the couple instead. In terms of portraying teenage love I would have to say that Horimiya does it better then anyone other series.
