Review of Suzume
Fantastic pacing. This movie has been criticized as being structurally similar to previous works but the truth is this movie had WAY better pacing in the sense that I never got bored and my attention had been kept consistently throughout. Superb change. I've been saying for years that Shinkai's works desperately needed to portray chairs possessed by humans chasing spirit cat entities around Japan's country side. And now it FINALLY has! Finishing note: The darker feelings throughout were easy to get invested in but the overall consensus of the movie was that it was hopeful and about to keep going with the people we HAVE in ourlives even when we lost the people we HAD.
All around, I would have to say this is a solid Animovie and the best of Makoto Shinkai's works.
Could you imagine having a more thankless job than a Closer?
