Review of Suzume

This story of about a girl that gets dragged into a supernatural phenomenon and has to overcome challenges to save the world and her crush blah blah blah. I really like the movie's plot but it definitely can be better in a few ways. Like they could've dove deeper into the supernatural aspect of it and explained how it originated. I felt that the stakes weren't big enough for me to be fully immersed into the story. But the flashback at the start did well grab to absorb our attention into the story. Characters were decent. Nothing special as they just felt like characters that Makoto Shinkaiwould come up with. As for suzume, she had decent development as an mc but I didn't feel that her trauma affected her that much. Literally for most of the movie she was not dealing with it and instead was focused on something else emotionally. So when she overcame her trauma at the end, it didn't feel like she overcame shit. The romance was kinda trash tbh, it felt forced and the 2 characters did not have chemistry.

The movie has great music as usual. From what I watched so far you can expect this from Makoto Shinkai movies. The music enhances certain scenes and make them feel more immersive and emotional.
The visuals are great as usual but I think that the animation in your name and weathering with you slightly triumphs this one.
Overall the movie was enjoyable. This is definitely better than weathering with you.
