Review of Vinland Saga Season 2
I would really recommend this to someone who really liked Vinland Saga season 1 but with the twist that it's way more slow pace and it's suppose to be, because the entire point of this slow pace is to help with the main MC and develop minor characters. Dialogue is incredibly slow and meaningful with beautiful imagery. I think what makes this better than season 1 was the change of directory, the action compared to season 1 seems so little. I felt each episode was so slow, which was very intended and each accomplishment and little side plot was so worth for each character development.I loved each and every character and what they represented.
My gripes I have for this season was, the music was a bit mediocre to my liking, the music composer for this Yutaka Yamada, first time I'm hearing the music composition, while I'm not blown away by it, its fine for what it is and it's practically there to be honest. My other gripe I have was there was so much allegory especially for dead characters, which to me in this particular series is amazing because it's incredibly different from your typical "anime" and its medium however, there is a bit of scenes where it involves "dreams" that I wish the direction was approached in seeing the death of characters and what they represented in a call back or more memories, because when you involve some scenes of having dreams or having literal embodiments of hellish creatures grabbing back, which I think it's fine for what it needed to be but I would've love to have call backs or more memories that gets a call back before a present scene or have a "ghost" that shadows over. Also, some episodes felt so dam long but it was intended I feel like they could've done more scenes in the present rather than having the dreams or have more inner monologue. I feel like there was a bit less inner reflection with some characters that needed to be fleshed out, with more interaction or unique plots.
Animation and artstyle isso different, and I love it. IT DOES NOT FEEL LIKE AN ANIME like at all. And I love it, it feels like I'm watching a tv show from a different studio.
Music is meh
openings and endings are solid, not my type of music I listen too or jam but I love listening them.
I would honestly rate this a 9.4 because this series is a good experience that I think it's a incredibly good medium to consume like one of those animes that MIGHT not blow you away but might have you tearing up, or super satisfied. You need to watch it, if you have not! Season 1 was so intense and so captivating. This season is better than season 1 because characters are way more fleshed out and more interesting than season 1.
