This anime is one big surprise and it's nothing for grumpy people demanding perfection for any cost, even for a cost of creating boring anime. The Eminence in Shadow took interesting path. I must say I've been worried about season 2 to be remade into some typical boring isekai. No. This is by no means another generic isekai and I just love how it's chaotic. Entire show is running around 1 OP character - Cid - who is making up things on the run and has luck/enough coincidence to make them real and always figure out a positive outcome for him to shine as some mythicalcharacter being able to move with the universe at his will.

The issue with OP characters is simple - you know they will win, you know they are almighty, usually there are no or bad jokes and story is incredibly boring. Meanwhile Shadow is doing perfect job at laughing at all of those subjects at once.

MC is funny, OP and clueless at the same time. Cid is playing almighty character trying to rule the entire world by his will, yet in reality he is making up a lot of things and simply having luck. Fights with him are not boring, they are fun and unique and story is giving you an opportunity to show Cid in every episode with some new absurd OP ability to let you just laugh at it or make your jaw drop.

So far this anime is a big surprise, combining together aspects that usually work alone but not together, yet here we are, at very well welcomed piece that offers a lot.

Honestly, it's worth that time and it's one of the very little amount of anime what managed to really surprise me.
