Review of Black Clover

Black Clover turns out to be one of my favorite anime. To be fair, I was not interested in Black Clover at first, since It wasn't appealing enough to me back then. But then recently, after watching just the first episode of Black Clover, I had so many questions wondering where this story would lead to. It was an interesting introduction in my opinion. So from there the story of two orphans Asta and Yuno begins. Story / Plot: 7 (CONTAINS SPOILERS) I had my ups and down during watching these 170 episodes, but most of them are ups, fortunately. So I summarize the plot throughhow many conflicts that has happened in Black Clover:

1. Eye of The Midnight Sun (10/10)
For the plot Eye of The Midnight Sun, I would give it 10/10 since I enjoy throughout the story from the beginning of the conflict till the end. Since it was Asta's and Yuno's first big mission in a way. So gave me all the hype to know the mystery that was slowly going to be uncovered. Since there was so much possibility in how this conflict will end, and it was surprisingly unexpected for me.

2. Elves (8/10)
For the plot Elves, I mean It's still the same Eye of the Midnight Sun, but I think it's a two different so-called race. For the reveal that turns out Eye of the Midnight Sun was the reincarnation of the Elves was kind of shocking. And their ambitions behind on why they wanted to destroy humanity was because their tribe was slaughtered on the day of Licht's wedding with Princess Tetia. I felt sympathy for the Elves, and can't decide on which side should I root for, humans or elves. Since both sides have their pro and cons, obviously. But it was stated perfectly by Asta, during his fight with Rhya where he said something like "We just need to understand each other, that I'm sure there's a reason behind the Elves rage and hatred", somewhat like that. So I did enjoy this plot, since the revelation for the Elves tribe.

3. Devils / Akuma (7/10)
For the plot that reveals that behind the hatred for Elves as well why humans slaughtered the Elves was actually the Devil himself. Where we suddenly got introduced to a new character that is Zagred the devil, where it has almost zero mention throughout the anime. I was shocked? Or am I even supposed to be shocked? But one thing that's clear I didn't like on how they suddenly decided to introduce a new character out of a blue, and suddenly he was the one that is responsible for everything that has happened between the Elves and the Humans. I just can't seem to accept it so suddenly, but I still do think that it sort of make sense in context in the world of Black Clover. As well, I sort of enjoy the story since it's slowly revealing Asta's devil. So I wouldn't really give it a low score.

4. Magic Parliament (6/10)
The fourth plot seems sort of pathetic, but at the same time reasonable on how the jurisdiction in Clover Kingdom works. After the conflict with the devil Zagred was resolved, Asta then was blamed to what has happened to Clover Kingdom (Eye of the Midnight Sun attack). Since Asta was able to have the devil power despite not having any single magic. It seems like a politic problem after such a huge conflict, revelation seems so unnecessary. It should have maybe continued as they did research on Asta and somewhat relates to the problem right away, rather than trying to make a conflict of something that was small into a huge problem. Since Asta had his devil power for quite sometimes, but why now they just brought it up? I mean, their image of the devil is supposed to be evil and scary etc. But it's just seems weird for it to bring up Asta's power now. So I didn't really enjoy this plot.

5. Devil Banshisers, Devil Believers (4/10)
This plot sucks like hell, okay I'm just going to keep it short. Aftermath of the Eye of the Midnight Sun, at this point I wonder where did Patolli and other Elves went????? It wasn't mentioned at all until like eps 167 ish. I was soo annoyed the fact that ELVES STILL EXIST, and I was hoping they'd be able to come to an understanding or something for the next plot. BUT GUESS WHAT NOOO, WE GOT DEVIL BELIEVERS AND DEVIL BANISHER instead. So Devil Bansiher was supposedly to banish all devil associate, and Asta him self who was assume to have made a deal with the devil. That caused all the deaths and casualty in Clover Kingdom. So they captured, Asta and Nero. I mean, yep just casually kidnap them. THE HELL, it just made all of their hard works seems like nothing. I get it they are still human in the end, but it just made the image of Asta seems so pathetic to be kidnapped because of just some poison. And then TA-DA guess what, Devil banisher was used by the real so called clan that is Devil Belivers. Where they wanted to use Asta grimmoire, Asta, Nero as an offering to the spade kingdom in return to have a devil power. Because of the discrimination they've gotten throughout their life as someone who has less maybe none of magical power. But then yes it was resolved by Vangeance, and yep that's done.

6. Spade Kingdom, Dark Triad (9/10)
The continuation after the Devil banisher and Devil Belivers, I think it seems appropriate to still linger around the topic devil. So I enjoyed the conflict so far, as in this plot a lot of things were revealed, Yuno was actually a prince from the Spade Kingdom, and we got some more clues on Asta's backstory. And what was the best temporary ending for eps 170 was Liebe. But before all of that, so it started with Asta and his friend trying to figure out on what to do to prove Asta's innocence to the Magic Parliament, since it was on post phoned for Asta's execution and was not cancelled. Therefore they decided to go to Heart Kingdom, since from Gordon's father magic, they were able to pick up a tremendous amount of power of curse in Heart Kingdom. And basically in short, they talked things out and turns out Lolopechika, the queen of the heart kingdom, was cursed by the devil Megicula from the Spade Kingdom. Where her curse was, she was to die in a year. Therefore, Lolopechika decided to have a deal with Asta / Clover Kingdom in joining power in defeating the spade kingdom for 6 months before Lolopechika power slowly getting weaker. And then basically they trained right for 6 months, then after 6 months we got the newest episode like on eps 158 we are introduced again with Asta and his friend after training for 6 months. Where wooh Asta got soo much hotter, sorry-. So the conflict was clearly about to begin, I meant the war with Spade Kingdom. So yes it began, Dante attacked Black Bulls base in goal to capture Yami Sukehiro, Zenon attacked Golden Dawn base in goal to capture William Vangeance, and last Vanica that attacked Heart Kingdom. So from those 3 fight scene, Yami and Asta fight with Dante was soooooooo awesome and soooo hyping is it even a word lol. But fortunately they were able to defeat Dante, but of course it didnt last long, Zenon then suddenly stabs Yami in capturing him alongside with Vangeance whom he has defeated previously in Golden Dawn base. And Asta was left with such a heart breaking expression seeing Yami being taken away. Zenon fight with Yuno/ Golden Dawn base was just really sad gosh, seeing Belle so desperately in not leaving Yuno, but I mean he is a protagonist, so he wouldn't died easily, and yes Magic Tree saved Yuno and other Golden Dawn member that was on verge of their death. But sadly half of their squad members was slaughtered to death already. Where Magic Tree only helped someone who is on verge of death, but was not able to bring back people to life.. And it shocks me one of the supporting character that has a lot of to do with the main character was killed, Hamon and Shiren. So that's that, last was the fight scene in Heart Kingdom, I always loved on how Charmy turns into her real form or human form perhaps and not her dwarf form. She was just such a badass. And goes for the other fighting, expect Mimosa though, Mimosa fight scene was kind of, uhm.. lame? Sorry, but it just seems that way compared to the others. So 3 out of the 3 fights the magic knights has lost. Where then it continues, we are introduced to a new 2 character, and as well bringing up the previous characters. That are Nacht, Liebe, Tetia's kids, and the Elves. Nacht was introduced so of a sudden but wasn't a surprise, since I kept in mind what Yami's have said in like the first few episodes, where these are the few of the Black Bulls member, and I knew there were still other Black Bulls members that was not yet to introduce, such as Zora and Henry. Where then in the 170 episodes it ended with Nacht who was the vice-captain of the Black Bull. The Elves was brought up again, since actually they were living in the corner of the heart kingdom where it has a tremendous amount of mana, and then we were introduced briefly to a new character that was Tetia's kids, where it hasn't been explained clearly on their backstory. And last was the best closing of a character, Liebe. That is Asta's devil, who was the closest to him all of this time after he received his grimmoire. Where he was introduced physically in order for Asta to have a complete control of Liebe by fighting him with Asta's own strength. But then there was this flashback of Liebe, when he was from the underworld and then met Asta's mom Licita. BRUH this was all feels, when Licita died and Liebe finally said "Okaasan..-" BRUHHH PLEASE DONT CUT ONIONS MAANN. Okay so there goes the end for this plot until eps 170. However, this conflict isn't resolved yet, therefore this is temporary defeat for Clover Kingdom and Heart Kingdom.

So in conclusion for the story or plot is a 7/10. (10 + 8 + 7 + 6 + 4 +9 / 6)

Art / Animation: 7
The animation of this anime was so inconsistent and awkward at certain times. Since sometmes it could look so awesome and beautiful but sometimes it looks so unporpotional. But for their fight scene animation was always on fire, it gives me all the hype in seeing the fight scene it was just soo awesome for thankfully. Thier background arts or animation was beautifull portrayed as well, especially Kahono's scene. Despite having inconsistency in their art throughout this 170 episodes, I still do respect their effort in giving us a chance to see Black Clover in action.

Sound: 9
The anime has undoubtfully has awesome OP'S and ED'S and none of them was dissapointing. As well they were able to give out the best of one imporant scene with the support of good BGM or OST playing in the background. I mean for example Liebe and Asta fight scene was played along with their first opening Haruka Mirai, and damn that was just so beautiful. As well as other soft BGM for some touching scene's or backstory. its just 9/10, I can't give it a 10/10 unfortunately, because not all of their important scence was succesfully played with their chosen BGM in giving a strong impact.

Charachter: 10/10
I would not give less than 10 for their charachters, all of each character has their own arch that was interesting, inspiring, and touching. And the comedic sense for some of the charachter always gets me, as well I appreciate the seiyuu very much for their character especially Asta's seiyuu where he kept being so loud throughout the anime.

Enjoyment: 10/10
I enjoyed this anime from the begining until the end. Since from one episode to another I can't stop my curiosity in knowing what would happened next. And I have my own assumption or idea or conspiracy for what would happen next, but it was enjoyable nevertheless. Where most of the enjoyment came from the satisfaction when one of my favorite character sucseed.

Overall this anime got 8 based on rating each aspect of it then dividing it. But for me it still has a score out of 10. Since it was just my really first anime for being so drawn to its world.
