Review of Land of the Lustrous

Revolutionary and a breath of fresh air in some aspects. So woefully incomplete and under developed in other areas. This anime is far from complete. One would need at least 60 episodes in order to fully flesh out the world and all of the characters within it while maintaining the nice pacing the series does have. This 12 episode “season” is the equivalent of combining a few monogatari arcs together to develop one characters background (as well as the world) within the frame of a larger story. The unique, revolutionary, and fully developed style is something I havn’t seen since Puella Madoka Magica. Praiseall around but by god if they dont announce seasons 2-8 soon I will have blood. Other than the incompleteness the only other complaint I have is that there is a sort of unprecedented and obvious shift in the final fourth of the series, everything picks up from the animation to the action and the humor, it almost felt like a different show. Also the ending does not wrap it up nicely it is a cliff hanger.
