Review of Devilman: Crybaby
This review is written by a person who has never read/watch any of the original material. NOTE: This show has a lot of blood, gore, and sexual situations, now it has it reasons and is NOT just a sex and bloodfest. Story: The story was solid and had good pacing until episode seven, there should have been a episode here to act as a buffer/filler of humanities reactions to demons since this show is on a platform that tends to be marthoned unless the goal was to show how quick people act rash. And everything after episode 8 felt rushed to me. Art. I enjoyed most ofthe art when it was in motion and not giving the illusion of motion because there a some scenes when characters walk and it's as if they're like gliding , which was a bit off putting.
Sound: The OST was great, during the battles, when driving giving an ominous feeling, during the club music, I enjoyed it. I had no issues with any voice actor speaking english because I met many people from different places speaking english and that's what it sounds like. Unless a person is from the US or grew up with people from the US they will not have an "american" accent. Which is why I'm fine with the voice actors speaking english
Characters: Okay the characters had human traits and personality but were not given enough time to develop. For example Mikki's family needed a episode for themselves, Akira's family also, and Mikkio with the rapper in yellow glasses. If we had these 3 episodes it'd have made a strong impact for what's to come. Also in the last episode they throw in a characters backstory, like "y tho" you could have done that way earlier.
Enjoyment: This rating is absolutely dumb. Just cuz I liked it doesn't mean you will. Anyways THIS IS NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART. There is disturbing imagery, things you will not agree with if you believe in certain sects of religion, and meant for mature audiences.
