Review of The Rising of the Shield Hero
I have mixed feelings about this one. The story itself isn't all that bad, what annoys me is how fast-paced it is for the amount of episodes it has. This has to do more with the characters so I'll explain it a little later in the review. The story itself wasn't bad though, the concept is nice the execution not so much. I was seriously considering if I should just drop the story at first but since someone recommended it, I decided to give it the benefit of the doubt and managed to get it to grow on me. The art is what I would consider atypical manga style. You have to appreciate the fact CGI wasn't used or well-done on characters with armour *goblin slayer cough cough*
The sound effects and voice actors didn't necessarily stand out, however, they weren't bad either.
My biggest problem with this anime was the characters. Right off the bat the 4 heroes immediately unrealistically accepted their fate. I know, anime isn't realistic but there are still some main points in characters that when not made realistically take away a lot from not only the characters themselves but the story as well. It was unfortunately hard to relate to and the personalities felt a little fake.
Even with all these problems, I enjoyed this anime quite a bit. I wanted to relax and just watch the anime without thinking about all of the plot holes and problems the way I normally do. That is why I enjoyed it more, so my score on Enjoyment is solely based on that, if you focused on the problems in the story then it probably wouldn't be that fun to watch.
I would recommend this one to any new weebs without much anime experience.
