If I had to give a short comparison of Beet, it would be throwing the plot of Bleach into the world of DnD. This relation is interesting, considering Bleach started a year prior to Beet, though the story itself is highly comparable to the Hueco Mundo arc, which obviously didn't exist at the time, so the parallelism may simply be coincidence, but it's uncanny. You exist in a world of hunters called Busters (Soul Reapers,) who exist solely to slay evil beasts called Vandels (Hollows) whose soul existence is to kill humans. However, experienced Busters have the ability to produce a magical weapon, individual tothemselves which grow in power and abilities as they mature together called Saiga (Zanpakuto.) Of-course, there are characters who are either too inexperienced or lack the aptitude to wield saiga, and often fall upon a more magical route of destructive spells called tengeki (kidou) that also have a dark counterpart that only Vandels can use (cero.) Then there's the team, the never give up, smack it with a stick till it dies main character who always seems to have the solution, Beet (Ichigo,) his weird best-friend/love interest who pretends to want nothing to do with him but really has the uber hots for him, Poala (Rukia,) his dark, strong, rival-like friend that never quite stacks up, Slade (Chad,) his smart friend who can't use the standard weapon, and instead takes a magical approach, Kissu (Uryuu,) and the bimbo, bubble brained hot chick who wants to bang everyone, Milfa (Orihime.) Of course, there's also the villain that slayed the respective hero's family and forces them out on their adventure of vengeance, Beltorze (Grand Fisher.)

The entire plot is the characters going about killing Vandels (Hollows) to purge the world of their evil and in the process, improve their rank (Busters have some form of bounty hunter system combined with a DnD style of "leveling up" as they kill more and stronger Vandels and monsters) and they also get paid for their kills. The story is a tad too cliche for my tastes, though it is interesting. It's also on an indefinite hiatus (and has been for a long time.) Honestly, I would continue to read this were it ever being published again, but don't expect anything too original or earth shattering from this series.
