before sitting down to watch Trigin, from beginning to end, i use to have this terrible habit in starting a series, getting close to the end, and moving on to the next one -- i did this for years! then Trigun came a long, i sat down got the dvd player working after smacking it a few times to get it to work, and watched 'all' 26 episodes. for me back then, that shi' was a miracle, and one which made me go back over the next few years to finish off those series i stopped watching prematurely (most here still pretty bad). the plot, mythos and character progression all really came to together, especially after actually consuming all the the episodes the show had to offer.

Trigun's plot is fantastic! each episode shows, section by section the true side of our main lead character, Vash the Stampede. the conflict of the his resolve and "naivety", and why he is called the Stampede? the other supporting characters push Vash to open-up, piece-by-piece as they reveal about him to the audience. sometimes by accident, and other times by spoken observation. it's of my favourite character studies in anime, and probably one of the the best portrayals of a "good man" archetype. especially when some of the other villains enter the scene...you know who i'm talking if you've seen it!

the music, character designs and setting all help to build the world, forming the rules and giving some characters a beginning purpose to jump off, metaphorically of course. adding them to story and having them, primarily Millie and Meryl, continuously keep running into Vash. completing the cycle; worldbuilding, plot and characters, all assisting to in creating an incredibly interesting work of fiction.

so, again, the ending. i've complained a lot about endings with anime as most are glorified advertisements (expensive ones) for the manga(s). and Trigun, sadly is a casualty of this, ending in a very abrupt way. especially such a great and strong build-up, only to kinda shrug it all off making it feel...empty. it's not a terrible ending, don't get me wrong, it's intense and really dramatic! yet, i feel one more episode after the 26th would've helped fully complete the anime, tying it up in nice neat bow!
