Tales of Eternia · review
I started watching this after absolutely loving the Tales of the Abyss anime and, frankly, it started out alright. It was pretty unfortunate, though, that a certain character was useless enough to ruin the entire show for me and I couldn't actually get through it. I'd recommend this anime if you can get past Farah, the most useless and hypocritical character to ever exist. No, seriously. At least the first five episodes are composed largely of her yelling at other characters for being lazy / not doing what they're supposed to / failing in general and shortly followed by her getting into a situation in whichshe herself fails more than any of the other characters have in the anime up to that point and has to be saved by one or more of the other characters (usually Rid, though in a few episodes it was another character such as Marrone or someone else). I'm sure the plot would've shown up at some point, but I got through nearly half of the series and that was about all that happened almost every episode.
I couldn't get through it because of how Farah was so useless that it actually made the anime seem useless, but I thought about it and if it didn't have her in it, it probably would be better. It's not an excellent anime by any means, but it was pretty neat. If the characters didn't directly affect enjoyment, I probably would've given this anime about a 7 could I have gotten through it, but on average it was about a 5 because of that fatal flaw.
