Review of Kokoro Connect
Decided to re-watch this masterpiece again. And, oh boy, it aged like a fine wine. The story is still attached to me to this day. An emotion of rollercoaster this was—a good one. Let's start this review off with the animation. I am actually impressed with how well the animation is. I thought it would age poorly but no. For an anime that is 12 years old by now, it still looks gorgeous. Even more fluent than some of the newer anime. Then the OST. I remember being so into it. The soundtrack is just phenomenal. Even when I listen to it again, it's just too good.Ah, the nostalgia is kickin' in with this one.
Story-wise. I actually have a problem. Well, a minor problem. You see this is the only series that in every arc, it's disconnected apart. What I meant by that is every problem/phenomenon of the arc is very distinct from each other and makes some character development feel harsh. In the first arc, Taichi is the one who gets character development, the second arc is Inaba, and the third/final arc is Yui and a bit of Aoki. Do you see the problem here? The author pushed hard on one character's development so that other characters become supporting characters in certain arcs. Which in my opinion is fine, but it doesn't feel like they grow together. You can feel it more in the OVA.
And also, when I searched it up on the internet, people said both the show and OVA combined only cover the first 4 volumes of the Light Novel, which contained 11 volumes. So yeah, I guess I need to continue it via BookWalker. Thankfully they got the series in there.
Finally the VA. I love their voice, man. Really insanely good how they acted, especially the Fuuzenkazura/Heartseed. Boy, both Keiji and Aki did a great job of making the Heartseed sound ominous. If I have it I would give them 4 thumbs up for that.
Overall, very happy I revisited this series. Shoutout to Kito-senpai on YouTube for reminding me of this beautiful masterpiece. I gave it 8.6.
