Review of School Days
If you want to see anime that makes you pulling out your hair, stabbing yourself into your eyes and setting the whole world on fire then School Days is a recommendation for you. (Warning: This review contains a lot of negative self-statements!) Of course the first episodes start nice and try a lot to catch your interest to continue watching with their little shock moments and plot twists. It seems like a cute, romance slash a little bit of seinen anime at first but it at some point the story gets more and more obvious. It tries to create a mature kind of plot in an environmentwhich is most likely seen with the cast consisting of teenagers and fails at it miserably. The story makes it feel like you are watching an animated soap opera, an horrible soap opera with a bunch of dumb/reckless teenagers.
The title "school days" is an irritation - this anime has nothing to do with schools except the fact that the main characters meet there. If I was the creator of this anime it would had been called "cheating asshole on the loose" or something with the word "cheating" included in the title because this is what this anime is about - a cheating asshole. As addition to this: The "cheating asshole" is accompanied by a lot of mentally-limited highschool girls and their loose meat holes. Some of them get crazy during the time but that's not as relevant as the boats which are beautiful placed in this masterpiece of junk.
If there is a "worst cast ever created"-award, School Days would deserve it more than anything else. It might be possible that you start feeling hatred towards every single person that has gotten a little bit of screen time. They are overdrawn, dumb, personality less, anime cliche deep to the pores and smell like pure bullshit. Ok, we are talking about the harem genre which isn't known for having the smartest or the greatest cast within their shows but School Days is almost outstanding in the genre itself for being even worse than anything else. The cherry of the cake here is Makoto - the main protagonist. His innocent, shy appearance during the first episodes is faker than the noses of the most female Hollywood stars nowadays - every single episode will make you wanting Makoto to get a deadly genital disease or something due his perverted and reckless behavior. It's like his brain moves bit for bit from his head to the lower part of his torso. The girls aren't better - they don't think and strip down their panties without even asking. Some of them only appear in this anime for only one certain thing - fan service or sex. Every feminist would tear their eyes out instantly by the way how females are shown in this anime since there is no sign of normal human behavior or intelligence inside their brains.
As far as I could notice that the only thing that people are actually liking about this anime is the art and the sound - I have to say - I cannot see anything special in both things either. The animation makes it look like it got produced by a cheap hentai animation studio and the sounds fit perfectly into such a production. But the worst thing of the art is just - I don't know if the main character designer was lazy or his glasses were broken during that time but all the girls look basically the same except for their eye colors. They didn't even try to make the main protagonist look kind of interesting/handsome to create a reason why all the girls are suddenly chasing is dick. He looks like his personality: boring and clueless. I cannot see anything in him what could have made him attractive on some way though.
There is nothing positive about this anime that I can remember. The fan service is nice and it's actually not too much except some panty-flashing and shower scenes. Although it has a considerable amount of sex scenes but these are kinda boring.
As for the hate in this review you can see I didn't like this anime, no I didn't only dislike it - I had the urge to throw the author/producers into a huge tank of caustic acid.
But one thing I still do not understand: Why is something like School Days tagged as "psychological" on MAL? Except for the last few episodes there is nothing shocking/horrifying about this anime. I kept waiting and waiting for something to happen but no, everything was already so obvious. And the "famous" boat scene was so out of plot and so random, it seemed like the producers weren't creative enough to find an acceptable ending for this crap so they came up with this unrealistic and ridiculous stuff.. At least the ending made School Days gain a little bit relevance but the other ten episodes aren't worth to watch it.
Next to the anger I have developed - I still found myself being a victim of its entertainment to keep on watching due morbid curiosity. So if you aren't a masochist who enjoys horrible animated stuff with a bad plot and no point at all, please move ahead and abandon this anime as soon as even possible.
