Review of High School of the Dead

This anime is basically about zombie fighting. Once the zombie bites you, you will slowly become one. I enjoy this anime not because of the huge boobs and fanservice. I enjoy it basically because of few of the casts. I also wonder how did the zombie apocalypse begin? Let's go through the cast one by one: Takashi: a smart leader who picks himself up when things turn disasterous. Rei: she is stubborn in the sense that she just don't understand people's feelings including Takashi. She is also whiny. Saya: the most annoying girl in this series, who always talks big and cares about her looks. Kota: he is secretly abadass with a rifle to shoot down zombies

Saeko: a smart, calm and collected swordswoman who is always alert when it comes to danger. She is also seen avoiding bullets in matrix style with boobs, slow motion.

Shizuka: there is not much I could say about her, just ditsy. She is just a good driver who brought the whole cast out of the zombie town.

Alice: she is just a loli, not much to say.

Takashi & Saeko are my favorite characters in this anime. Without them, I wouldn't be enjoying this anime. Kota was also my favorite in this anime as he also learns to pick himself up in danger. However, Kota did not leave me much impression after that. Rei is not as annoying as Saya but in episode 4, when Takashi said that his money was not enough to have gas on the motorcycle, she just whines and say "You're the WORST!" which irritates me. Saya always keeps bitching and whining about her parents, looks and shouts at Kota which makes me hate her character more.

The art takes in a darker tone just like we are in an action game like Counter Strike. Counter Strike whereby terrorist vs counter-terrorists. But here Zomebies VS Humans. The color tone is similar to the anime "Attack on Titans" even though I have watched a bit of the episode but I wasn't planning on watching all because my head is so full right now.

This is similar to Black Lagoon as the anime has pure action and language profanity. There is also rock music in the opening theme. Black Lagoon opening theme "Red Fraction" while HOTD opening theme is just the name itself. But basically I love equally badass male and female characters in anime. The difference is that HOTD has more fanservice than Black Lagoon.

To me, I don't mind the fanservice and gore, but as long as there are characters which I can relate to and like then that will be good. Also as long as the fanservice do not destroy the plot which is the case of "Ultimate Girls", my worst anime. The ending was left incomplete and we would not know where they will be going.

This anime is for zombie fans and action fans. This will not be recommended for those who cannot stand bath scenes, big boobs and fanservice. Because this anime will be totally loaded with it.

I fine this anime all right despite its fanservice even though the fanservice makes the anime stupid. So I would say this anime was all right. Some characters may really affect the plot.

I can't say much. So due to that, I give it a 6/10.
