Kuroshitsuji, or Black Butler, whichever you prefer, was a pretty good anime. It was the first anime I've ever watched and I'd like to say that it was a good choice. It was really good, but not too good to where I'd have expectations too high for other anime in the future. I'l start with the story for this review. The main protagonist of this anime, Ciel Phantomhive, is a twelve (later thirteen) year old earl living in London, England with his butler, Sebastian Michaelis, who happens to be a demon. (and a Gary Stu) Ciel made a contract with him when he was tenand during a terrible moment of his life. I can't say much more without any spoilers.

The art of this anime was really good and the animation was very fluent and smooth. (mostly) It also had some very good, sometimes catchy, songs in it's OST. The theme song was actually stuck in my head for months after I finished this season!

The characters are mostly good in the anime, but because this was an anime and didn't directly follow the manga, the anime obviously didn't have as much character development as the manga did. But it did have some character development, especially near the end.

Ciel is a very relate-able and likable character, probably the most likable out of all of them. You will feel for him when seeing his darkest moments and you'll also understand his bitterness, which is a mere coating for him to mask his feelings that leave him vulnerable. Sebastian is also likable but not relate-able, so he's lower on the scale of favorites for me than Ciel.

One character that I particularly did not like was Elizabeth. I loved her in the manga, but in the anime she was flat out annoying. Maybe it was her high pitched voice, girly attitude, or her glomping Ciel who clearly hates it that made me hate her.

I enjoyed this anime a lot and it had a nice ending besides the fact that the ending didn't have a reason. Overall I'd rate 7/10. I recommend this for fans of fantasy for sure though, because of the angels, demons, reapers, and more.
