After 3 years watching sporadically and even theming my profile around it, I finally finished this anime. Corrector Yui is an anime that never really took off stateside with an unfinished dub which is a shame since it has a unique concept with a cyberspace magical girl pretty much acting as an antivirus software...despite said girl being very inept with computers. It's a very fun anime with enjoyable side characters and humor with its character dynamics that fleshes out both the team of heroes and the team of villains, which is always a plus. Yui, our titular protagonist, has a very cute design and attacks andas she gains experience, gets 3 more forms with their own powers that are all distinctly and well designed. Watching her gain confidence in herself as a Corrector and build relationships with her fellow Correctors that are scattered across the world wide web (or ComNet as it's called in-universe) is heartwarming.
So, if I'm singing this anime's praises, why the mere 7/10? The answer lies in pacing.
The first 25 or so episodes are a solid 8, they strike the perfect balance between being episodic and character-driven and being plot and narrative-driven. The Big Bad has a solid build-up in being a formidable foe and there are some fun unexpected twists in terms of Corrector's and their identities.
However, the 2nd half of the show is a solid 6. A new threat and new characters are introduced but the pace slows to a crawl, being heavily episodic and feeling like nothing's happening in the grand scheme of things up until the final 7-8 episodes. The Big Bad is heavily lacking in gradual build-up making the finale feel rushed and new attacks/power-ups come very late into the show, further contributing to that rushed feel, even if there are satisfying and well-earned character development scenes.
So, despite having a good concept and cast along with great art and music, the execution could've been better, leading to my rating having mixed feelings.
