School Days is an anime that is infamous for its adaptation of a Japanese visual novel. The visual novel has about 12 endings, and the anime's ending shows the worst possible outcome. The anime has an impressive production quality, and the creators of this anime have done an excellent job with the pacing, music, timing, and everything else that goes into making it. The pacing sometimes feels slow and personal, which adds to the story's overall tone. The plot has dark developments, and many foreshadowing moments lead up to the big twist with Makoto towards the end. All the characters in the show are flawed, andnone of them deserve the ending they received; however, none of the actions taken by the characters were unreasonable. The grand finale was dark, extreme, and built up to that point perfectly. The scene's execution was fantastic, with the music, framing, pacing, and dialogue working together effectively.

One can take this anime as a cautionary tale on the consequences of cheating and how it can negatively affect others.

Watching this anime is a unique experience, and it is recommended to go in blind without any spoilers. It is undoubtedly more surprising without any prior knowledge of the events leading up to it.

This anime could have gone in many different directions, but it was clear from the start that it wanted to use this ending. It was well-made, and I enjoyed it. Although I understand the arguments for why this anime was a dumpster fire, I have to give it some props because I still enjoyed watching it.
