To start off my review heres a whole bunch of similar anime to show the general ambience and show styles. If you enjoyed these anime then chances are you will like the others as well. Ergo Proxy, Mushishi, Aria (the animation), Kinos Journey (the beautiful world) Now.. Time for the "review" This anime is as raw as they come. If you want a slow-paced story of discovery in a world where people have to fight for survival when barely anyone survives, a tale of heroism without a hero and a story where people crave humanity without an ability to find it then this anime is perfect for you.The following paragraph is a prequel to the anime to give you an idea of the setting. Essentially humans create intelligent life in the way of machines. These "machines" become a slave to man, they lived to serve a purpose. That purpose might be to act as children to the wealthy who can't give birth, be used for militaries around the world or simply built to do one job very well. More or less, machines are created and eventually develop a mind of their own and at some point or another became the leading world power ahead of humanity.

BUT... After taking over the world for a few hundred years the cyborgs begin to rust and die when they thought they would live forever.

This philosophical anime is set in this post-apolopytic world where only a small percentage
of life still remains. Machine are beginning to rust and die while humans are on the brink
of extinction because of the machines hardwired tendency for killing. Both humans and machine alike are just striving to survive.

But make no mistake, this story is as slow paced as they come. It is about a humanoid called Casshern who cannot die. A man who destroyed the world only to forget he did it.
The story is based on Casshern and his slow discovery of the horrific things he has done and trying to make amends for the world he has created.

Story: 8/10, Well fleshed out and very symbolic
Art: 8/10, - artistic
Sound: 7/10 - Quiet and soothing
Ambience: 8/10 - Philosophical
Characters: 7/10 - I dont think they're cliche which is a positive
Enjoyment: 7/10 - Slow pace, not much dialogue yet theres a lot to think about.

Overrall: 8/10

Despite being an incredible show with fantastic character depth, fantastic ambience and a generally fantastic art style, this show failed to really draw me in. The odd action scene I felt only took away from the anime as a whole and didn't do the show justice. There were plenty of plotholes in order to try add more symbolism and could have been improved overrall if more effort was made to try speed up the plot in ways other than out of place action scenes.

BUT Casshern sins is no doubt a fantastic almost unforgettable watch. Has the potential to change your view on the world and open your mind up in more ways than one.

8/10 would watch again
