Review of Fate/Zero
Fate Zero reminds me of Game of Thrones, the Star Wars Prequels, and classic American, but also Western-esque, stories. Game of Thrones has a variety of characters, each with their own motivations and goals which collide with others. It doesn't hesitate to kill characters in order to keep the story moving or give it a dramatic flair, which is a good thing. As for Star Wars, Zero tells a grim prequel story, where ultimately, the bag guys win; Kirei and Gilgamesh, just like Vader and Sidious. However, by the end, there is a small hope that lies within a boy and the next generation of mages. And finally, it's similar to classical American stories such as the Great Gatsby. Zero is ultimately a cautionary tale, just like many classic western stories before it. It warns people of desires and the consequences to aggressively, without remorse or hesitation, chasing after it. In the end, (spoilers), the ones who had no reason to seek and claim the holy grail, survived and won. Kirei, Gilgamesh, and Waver. All others had their dreams or lives crushed.
