Review of ReLIFE
A pleasant surprise for recently airing anime. This apparent "slice of life" anime deals with deep matters, intertwined with comedy and romance moments. A 27-year-old is given the opportunity to go back in time and change his life. Many anime viewers of that age range might be experiencing a similar period, feeling disappointed in life and even disappointed in themselves, wondering 'what would I do if I could change my teenage years?' Well this is the chance for Arata Kaizaki. He agrees to participate in an experiment which allows him to go back to high school for one year, with the only requirement that henot reveal this secret to anybody. Of course, friendships and social interactions are bound to happen, yet the memory of Kaizaki will be erased from everyone who met him during the experiment.
Story 9/10
A 'back in time' story in a high school setting does not seem very innovative, but ReLife presents it in a particularly successful setting. The story offers enough surprises to keep the viewer interested. There are some dark moments relating to the sadness of Kaizaki's current state in life, but also many funny scenes that keep the show lighthearted.
Character 10/10
What I found the most compelling was the realism and authenticity of the characters. The MC is extremely relatable, and I found myself sympathizing with him most of the time.
Enjoyment 10/10
Animation was excellent, sound appropriate. Overall, I found the show very easy to enjoy. Plus the manga is ongoing and the story only gets better! :) Definitely give ReLife a chance.
