Review of Sword Art Online
Overall, despite its many obvious flaws, SAO is a really good anime that you should definitely at least try watching once. First of all, the music in SAO is just fantastic to listen to, from the OP and ED songs, the main ost as well as some the other soundtracks that are featured in the anime. The music really helps to enhance the vibes of the fight scenes as well as the emotional scenes andOP scenes. And speaking of OP scenes, the OPs in this anime are amazing from the spectacular animation to the stunning visuals and as mention before, the awesome music. Another pro SAO has is its animation, while it may not be Demon Slayer level, it’s still pleasing to look at, and it only gets better in the Ordinal Scale movie and onwards. The animation also helps better illustrate the action scenes, which is also another highlight for the show as the fight scenes are quite engaging and fun to watch. As for storytelling/plot, SAO definitely has an interesting premise compared to other isekai, and the first episode does a good job of establishing those concepts. The sci-fi/ fantasy themes help keep the story fresh, and not to mention the story also has a cute romantic subplot, which is often overlooked but is very nice to see, considering many non- romance anime fail at including a decent romance subplot. As for the notorious cons of SAO, some of it’s storylines/arcs are not as good as others and many people also accuse SAO of being a harem anime, even though it’s not since the MC has a main love interest and he doesn’t like any of the other girls. SAO also has a few raping scenes which are completely unnecessary but it’s not enough to ruin the show. The MC is also a little too strong, but compared to other OP MC in other isekai shows, the MC in SAO is nothing. So, in conclusion, although SAO has its fair share of issues, the pros do outweigh the cons, making SAO an anime worth your time, especially if you are a fan of isekai, sci-if, or fantasy anime.
