Review of Ride Your Wave

No spoilers. Don't expect the craziest of stories as parts of it were predictable and simple, but painful beautifully told with small surprises regardless. This movie feels like Ghibli meets Disney and somehow that just works. It has romance and kitsch, but also extreme sadness that can leave the viewer teary eyed. The fluid and gorgeous animation will carry the viewer through the sad scenes and enhance the beautiful parts even further. Riding the waves together with the protagonists you'll most likely enjoy everything very much and watch them grow. There could have been a bit more detail and character building instead of sweetness at thestart, when the main characters' relationship develops, but it doesn't necessarily affect the story, if anything it underlines the way the female lead floats through life.
