Review of Devilman: Crybaby

i do not get the hype around this anime. I was really expecting a lot from it because I had heard so many good things about it, everyone that talked to me about this was telling me how this anime was a masterpiece. I watched it and now I just am left with so many questions. the story isn't anything too interesting to begin with and the execution was just so bad in my opinion. the characters feel shallow and do not really have any impact, the only two characters that could be interesting are the main ones, but even them do not havemuch of a greatness to them. I personally didn't like or dislike the art style but I can still appreciate the fact that it was different from most anime out there, just not to my liking. none of the soundtracks really stood up to me. I really had to try hard to finish this. I still decided to not drop it because I had hope that I would at least get better in the last few episodes but it was just a time loss. But I could have still appreciated this as a mediocre anime if it was not for the ending. I just do not get it. how can people find that ending moving ? I personally think it was a really stupid ending and that the character brought that on himself so when I saw him cry, I was just like "this is the most stupid thing I've seen in a long time". I really do think it was one of the worst endings of anime that I have watched.
maybe I was this disappointed because so many people had so many good things to say about it ? maybe that could be one of the reasons. I do not think it is worth watching.
