Review of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2

JJK Season 2 is pretty good, wish I wasn't spoiled for all of it. I shouldn't have to tell you how amazing the animation is, I'm sure you saw it plastered all over your timeline when the season dropped (and have heard the horror stories from MAPPA animators.) Beautiful choreography, great shots, wonderful animation overall. While the smooth animation from fight choreos doesn't (understandably) carry over to the rest of the series, what does is the direction; there's great camera angles all throughout the 23 episodes. The music is also fine, and I think the use of the OP in the middle of the seriesis okay.

I feel that I can't express what I thought about the story beats this season because I, like most people on Twitter when this season dropped, were spoiled for basically everything. Characters continue to be fine, with the exception of few. I think Akutami does a great job of making something heart wrenching. But I can't really say that for sure, since I was spoiled for everything--I don't really feel anything at the super emotional scenes. Is that a sign of poor writing, or just me being spoiled? I don't know.

What I really didn't like was the first five episodes, or the arcs centering around Gojo and Geto in high school. I really, really think this arc should've been a whole cour. Not stretched to fit a cour, but man, I would've liked to see other characters besides Gojo and Geto, and for me, Gojo and Geto needed more time to shine for me to care even a little bit about their relationship. I feel weird saying this, because I think the Shibuya incident arc itself is paced really well, but I just do not care for the Gojogetos.

JJK is a solid season that I'm sad to admit I wasn't able to enjoy to its full capacity, but I hope someone else can.
