First, I want to praise the art style and the character design. Gorgeous. The moments of romantic tension (especially toward the end) are drawn perfectly. Mars no Kiss — a 4-chapter girls-love manga. What you probably care about most: is it good or not? Well… it’s very good. For such a short series, it manages to deliver an engaging story with two charming and well-written characters. Story So we have this girl, Yukari, who’s basically a baddie. Her somewhat slutty personality is a reaction to her mother’s strictness. Yukari is a rebel in the truest sense of the word. Her life seems exciting, but in reality it really isn’t. Sheputs on fake nails, sleeps with her older boyfriend, and goes to karaoke with him.
On the other side we have Miki, a diligent girl. She’s calm, quiet, and shy.
One day the two girls are assigned to sit at the same desk. From that moment on they start getting to know each other, and over the course of the four chapters we watch their relationship develop: from tension to romance.

Characters
I clearly prefer Miki. She was portrayed so well in the manga that even though she’s quiet and shy, she somehow gives off the opposite impression: dominant and effortlessly confident. I loved it. She’s a cutie.
I like Yukari as well. Even though she was a little annoying at first, I understood her reasons. I understood her frustrations; she had every right to feel that way. I really dislike parents who completely control their children and are extremely strict. Of course, letting them do absolutely anything isn’t great either… the solution is somewhere in the middle, right? Neither total recklessness nor extreme strictness.

I really liked the final chapter. It honestly felt a bit seductive to me, if that makes sense, lol.

Conclusion
A short, cute manga with charming characters that explores sexual themes in a pleasant way and with a beautiful art style.
I liked the progression of the friendship between the two girls. I’d even say it was adorable.
The manga also feels very realistic. From my own experience in high school, I met people like Yukari or Miki—girls who did everything considered “cool” but were empty inside, and girls who were shy and quiet, who hadn’t experienced anything romantic or sexual yet even though they probably wanted to.

It’s interesting to see how a friendship between these two archetypes is portrayed.

9/10. Brilliant—I highly recommend it.
