Review of Don't Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro
It is true that Nagatoro does initially come across with malicious intentions to bully and humiliate the male MC but I believe that if you find the patience to stick around or even give the Manga a go you'll get rewarded with a much more wholesome relationship. Right from episode 2 tsundere characteristics of Nagatoro start to trickle through and drive her to care and even defend Naoto. By himself Naoto, or 'Senpai', is a rather uninteresting character but gets cranked up to give him a bit more of an identity through his interaction with Nagatoro and I was genuinely invested in how their relationship develops. The side cast by itself doesn't bring a whole lot to the table but mostly serve as plot devices to drive the relationship of the lead forward.
Visually I think it to be a successful adaption since they nailed Naoto's apathetic look and Nagatoro's color palette with tanned skin, bright brown eyes and the conch earring really make her unique in my opinion.
It didn't hurt that Sumires Uesaka's "EASY LOVE" really stuck in my head from episode 1 which is rare with the slightly saturated and same-y abundance of anime OPs and I find the music to be fitting.
In conclusion, if you get enjoyment out of the teasing romance/comedy genre, which seems to be thriving lately, "Ijiranaide, Nagatoro san" is for you.
