Review of Kaguya-sama: Love is War -Ultra Romantic-
I'll preface this by saying that romance is not really my thing, and while romcom is more up my alley it's still hard for it to score well with me. So an 8 rating for this genre is by no means a bad thing. The third installment for me scored the same as seasons 1 and 2, it did better with the animation which was sharper and cleaner. It also had one of the funniest episodes I've watched recently (the rap one) which I was genuinely impressed by from start to finish. But whereas the first and second seasons had sections of story that were deepand moving, the finale here fell slightly flat and cliched. It gave into some of the dumbest anime tropes (e.g. boy ignorant of confession even though it's incredibly obvious to create a deliberate misunderstanding). For a series that has constantly been refreshing and challenging the endings part was too predictable, unrealistic and out of character.
That said though the ending wasn't the worst and it was still an enjoyable enough watch, albeit I'd only rewatch the one episode again in the future. For me it's not close to being no.1 but it's a decent watch.
