Though the concept of Paripi Koumei may sound ridiculous at first glance, it is actually executed surprisingly well. Kongming's reactions to arriving in modern day Japan are actually pretty believable which greatly adds to the story. Overall the story is great, it doesn't repeat a series of events over and over but instead it makes everything that happens feel unique. The fact that every episode is briefly compared to an event from ancient Chinese history is also a nice detail that adds to the story. The overall art-style of the anime feels like it matches the atmosphere very well. Everything looks pretty good and thelighting e.g. in clubs, during performances or simply outside felt very appropriate. Needless to mention the opening of this anime is amazing but there's also quite a lot of singing besides that considering the anime is partially about music. Whether the other songs are good mostly comes down to preference. There are a lot of songs that have English words sang with a Japanese accent. Regardless of whether or not you care about this, the songs do improve as the anime moves on. A small warning for people who absolutely hate rap: there is a bit of Japanese rap in the anime as well.

The characters in the anime are very good. Every character that appears is well defined and has their own set of traits. There's also an amount of character development which is nice to see. What I particularly like is that the anime gives characters reasons as to why they act in certain ways instead of just leaving them one dimensional. Overall this is a very fun anime to watch. You don't need to be into history or music but can just enjoy the story as is.
