Review of Summoned to Another World for a Second Time
Could've been something special, but settled for something average. The very premise of this series sets up the potential for something interesting storytelling, but instead of taking the opportunity to expand upon a manga and light novel that left room to build something more, it actually managed to do less with it. I normally dislike judging works on what they could have been rather than what they are, but in this case it adds to the problems with this adaptation and helps create an overall sense of disappointment. The animation was not good, the storytelling was fine, the characters were fine, the music was tolerable, and the overallmessage was at least passable.
The parallels between the antagonist and the "love interest," are a highlight, but just like everything else in this anime, it didn't get enough time to breath and really develop due to the pacing.
In a sea of generic Isekais, this one manages to tow the line of mediocrity for the most part. I'm grading it average because there's nothing offensively bad or good about it compared to its Isekai brethren, but it's not worth a second reincarnation as it stands.
