Review of Devilman: Crybaby
The premise of this show is really good. The humanity decend into chaos because of an "invisible" internal enemy (demons/santa/fear/themselves). This could have been a good show, but it wasnt. It was an utter dissappointment. Story: Why is it so trash? I dont even know where to start. Everything is so badly executed. The things just happend out of nowhere without buildup. It felt like the writer just pulled the things out of his ass. It was rushed, non-sensical, boring. In contrast the main turning points were obvious and predictable. It tried hard to be deep, but it failed miserably. In summaryit failed to convey its message properly.
Characters: They was boring as hell. I couldnt care less about them. The emotional scenes were forced, and didnt have the character development to back it up. It was ineffective because of the uninteresting characters, and the lack of emotional connection to them.
Art: Let's call it "unique". In a really bad way tough in my opinion. It was ugly and badly animeted for a show aired in 2018. It felt like it came from the 80's. Probably it was intentional, but there are better works out there which intentionally tried to look retro, and they looked much better than this.
Sound: It wasnt terrible, but I'm not the fan of the synthwave, so I didnt like it, but you may enjoy it if you like the genre.
Other pathetic things:
-out of place rap
-laughable english because reasons (and I say this as a non-native english speaker...)
