Isuca: Gokuraku · review
I don't know if Isuca ever planned to get a second season, but this certainly doesn't feel like the ending to one (that would be the last episode of the main series, in my opinion). Rather, as a stopgap between two meant as nothing more than to be a fun, little special meant to put the characters we all known and love in pretty light-hearted situations for the audience to enjoy. I suppose the fact that Isuca indeed, never got a second season as to the moment this review is being written (but we can always hope it will, tho) throw some members of the audiencein the wrong direction and made them misunderstand what the true purpose of this special was.
This Isuca special is your pretty run of the mill "anime beach episode" essentially. If you ever wondered by "Harem" was one of the tags in this series then you will probably understand why after watching this episode. Pretty fan-servicey situation involving almost all of the girls lusting and even fighting over Shinichirou in more than one ocation, very funny, if you ask me. It features a rather basic plot, but remember, the purpose of this special was to essentially show all the girls from Isuca in bikinis and put them in somewhat need situations. It doesn't need a profound or well-structured storyline since that isn't what this episode was set up, to begin with.
If you enjoyed the main Isuca series then you might aswell watch this special to conclude it with. You won´t see epic battles with powerfull monsters, you will not see complex mysteries from generations past get unfold in front of your eyes, but you will see a pretty funny and light-hearted episode with the characters of the main series that, if you enjoy fanservice, will no doubt found pleasing. Give it a chance.
