I stumbled upon Net-juu no Susume at a time when I was kind of burned out from the usual high school romance tropes. You know how it goes—teenagers falling in love over summer festivals, blushing under sakura trees, yada yada. Not that I hate those, but after a while, I just wanted something that spoke a little more to where I am in life. A 30-year-old woman moriko who quits her job and becomes a NEET? Honestly? Relatable AF. I mean, how many of us have had that dream—even just once—of just walking away from the endless grind, booting up a comfy game, and losing ourselvesin a world where no one expects you to fill out spreadsheets or answer emails? Watching Moriko take that leap felt weirdly liberating. Like, yes girl, unplug and log in.

The story isn't complicated, and that's kind of its charm. Moriko meets Lily (who is actually Sakurai IRL), and they just... click. Not in a dramatic fireworks way, but in the soft, gentle kind of way that creeps up on you. The fact that neither of them knew they were already crossing paths in real life made it fun to watch unfold. Sure, it's a bit trope-y, but honestly? I didn’t mind. There was something refreshingly wholesome about how awkwardly they navigated feelings. No grand declarations. Just subtle smiles, accidental hand touches, and awkward blushing. That’s real. That’s human.

Sakurai is a cinnamon roll, no doubt. Socially anxious, but kind-hearted and incredibly thoughtful. And Koiwai? Man. That guy deserves some respect. He knew Moriko and Sakurai were meant to be and gracefully backed off. That takes guts—and emotional maturity. Like, bro, you're a real one.

What really hit me, though, were the small moments. Moriko’s panic attacks when she went outside. The guilt she felt for stepping away from the traditional “successful” path. That constant self-doubt. As someone who has had their fair share of "What am I even doing with my life?" nights, it just... hit home.

Now, the reason I’m giving this a 7/10 and not higher is because the character development starts way too late. By the time Moriko and Sakurai start piecing everything together and getting closer, the show’s practically over. I was really hoping for more time with them once they knew the truth. There’s so much left unsaid, unexplored. And don’t even get me started on how there’s no second season (yet?). It kinda feels like someone pressed pause right as the good stuff started.

But all in all, if you're looking for a sweet, low-key romance with adult characters, some MMORPG nostalgia, and a lot of heart, give this a shot. It might not be life-changing, but for me, it was like a warm cup of tea on a rainy day. Quiet, comforting, and just what I needed
