Review of Tsukigakirei
Seeing the negative reviews of this show did not surprise me at all, even though I heralded this is show as one of the best and most realistic romantic anime in recent years. Apart from the subpar production and just extremely horrible and sloppy CGI (No surprise there considering the low budget of this show) I can't find much flaw of this show. Is it boring and slow? Yes it is at times. But this is the case because it's telling the story of love and romance of the people in Junior High School (Which is basically Middle School in the West). Don't you rememberyour first crush or first "relationship" in Middle School? It's awkward as hell and you barely know what you're doing. But this anime has showcased that perfectly and gave us an immature, albeit cringy at times, view on young love. Comparing this show with other romance Animes like Kimi Ni Todoke or Ao Haru Ride is just plain unfair (due to the High School setting in those shows). And aren't we sick of romance Animes where the two love interest doesn't get together for several seasons or dozens of episodes? Tsuki Ga Kirei is an anime that depicts young love that is pure, and relatable, and I wish more romance Animes depicts love in this manner rather than the usual "Oh we're not getting them together for 4 seasons" or "Let's make the main character have 15 love interests" that is usually used in Anime.
P.S. I actually love shows like Kimi Ni Todoke and even Harems like Quintessential Quintuplets and Nisekoi. I'm jut using them as examples and not as a stepping stone to praise Tsuki Ga Kirei even more. I love many categories of anime, I just don't like bad animes lol.
