Review of Don't Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro
Ok, hear me out, I saw critiques about this manga/anime, I could say that they have their points, and truly bullying is nowhere near to cute or pleasant and it will never be. BUT, THAT IS NOT THE POINT OF THE STORY. I think the point of this story is the part of "how it will end" not "how did they start", people are hyper focused on "how did they start" that's why we only critique the bullying aspects, and don't get me started with "you just romanticizing it" I am not and the fact that these same haters used to whitewash nagatoro, IRONIC isn'tit.
People have their tastes, and it's not up to us to force them, if they don't like this then that's super OK, at least you're being honest with yourself.
There are some plainly bad comments, like they didn't even have the effort to check the "bad" and the "good" of the story, they just blatantly saying "bullying" that they didn't even know where the story is going, in comparison they just read the synopsis and did not even bother to comprehend it.
Anyway back to my review, for me, the point of the story is how will they grow overtime, it's not like we started immature and still immature in our adulthood. Sure it happens but don't get pedantic one me because this is anime/manga, its impossible for the author to start their first "serious" manga and throw it up like that as if they are not serious in their careers. Of course it will have character development, WE KEEP ON FORGETTING ABOUT THESE FACTORS. If you are really into storytelling or reading in particular, you should considering this. Yeah I know what are you going to ask me, "Dude we will not waste our time reading this just to see some character development"... Then why bother read it? It said in the title that "don't bully me, miss nagatoro". A good story takes time as well as character development.
Another supporting point, WARNING!!! (HARDCORE BULLYING), Nanashi's 2012 webcomic called "Nagatoro-san and Senpai" JEEZ THAT'S THE REAL BULLYING, NO CUTE NO ROMANCE NO CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. That's where these blatant haters must hate on because the story has no sense. But this webcomic is a prototype, meaning Nanashi really did care on what he/she is going to do with their manga. I also read his/her perspective, he/she considered the phenomenon -bullying- wherein, Nanashi focused the story on how nagatoro will progress, from Sadism to Sweet side. Like I said give time, don't judge the book by it's cover LITERALLY.
For the readers who gave up on this, I just wanna say that I respect all of you!! But I finished all the volumes and I'm confident to say that the "bullying" part of nagatoro, is minimized bit by bit, I'm desperate to win your hearts in this because I REALLY LIKED the manga/anime, so please give it an another shot :), but if you don't like it then it's FINE! no harm done.
That's all, I would have like to have a healthy arguments and conversation with y'all.
I LIKED THE MANGA also the MANGAKA :D
