There are lots of trashy, degenerate anime out there; the industry has been pumping them out for decades now. But very few of them are anything more than eye candy. Generally formulaic, giving the drooling masses what they want: bouncing booba and pantyshots. But every once in a while, a series comes along that delivers so much more. Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete (aka Gushing Over Magical Girls or shortened to MahouAko) towers above the average ecchi anime, magical riding crop in hand, as it gives innocence-crushing steppies and looks down with a lewd, condescending smile. MahouAko expertly balances the plot and "the plot", often executing storyprogression and character growth in the middle scenes that toe the line between ecchi and softcore hentai. Each of the characters fills their niche with any overlap intentionally placed to cause friction between the characters. The story might seem simple in the beginning, but don't be fooled; it's much more than: "Mahou-Shoujo-Otaku/Sadist tortures her idols." The anime stays nearly frame to frame accurate to the manga, with a couple of episodes being chapters that appear later in the story.

Ecchi authors take note. THIS is what the standard of an ecchi series should be, because trashy-anime enjoyers want to have their cake and eat it too.
