Review of Frieren: Beyond Journey's End

There are very few shows I'm as eager to introduce to people as Frieren. From characters, to plot, to soundtrack, to animation, this show is as close to flawless as I've seen. As the title says, it's a story about what the heroes do after the journey has ended, and yet even without a world breaking threat each episode manages to make you care about the characters, to want to see where their journey takes them, and hope for their happiness. The action will be sparse for people used to watching shounen or fighting anime, but when they come they're some of the best fightscenes I've seen.

Even for me, who doesn't generally like episodic plots, Sousou no Frieren (more literally translated as "Frieren of the Funeral Rites") has forever taken a spot among not just my favorite anime, but my favorite stories ever told. I cannot recommend this masterpiece enough.
