RECOMMENDED if you're a military nerd, NOT RECOMMENDED if you're a casual anime watcher. This show is definitely not for everyone, I'm a huge military nerd and this show made me bust loads almost every episode (reasons in next paragraph). The story is fine for the most part, it consists of multiple short stories that take place around a similar time frame and are connected in one way or another. There are like two episodes that aren't directly connected to the rest but are still pretty good. The CG is average, its certainly nothing bad unless you are a party pooper. The use of weapons andequipment is top-notch and realistic excluding the first Super Hind "Crocodile" in episode 6.
Several paragraphs can be written about the weapons and equipment used but to keep things short, the designers/artists are fellow military nerds. Some people didn't like the designs (which is insane, these are seriously some of the most realistically designed mechs I've ever seen besides the Alien aspect) and that's fine, its okay to be wrong. Tracking the progression of technology felt so surreal. Taped-on tablets for monitors, mechs using modified M2 Browning .50 cals as rifles and a heat rod as an anti-armor melee weapon made me shed tears. Shout out to the NTW-20 as well, did not expect to see an obscure firearm in any anime.
This is probably my first and last review, I felt like ranting because this show deserves so much more than what people give it. People didn't like this show and some of the reasons were (IMO) a little nit-picky and ignorant. Maybe I have a tolerance of mid to trash shows but this show did not feel mid or trash in the slightest. A 9 is warranted from me because I certainly enjoyed it the whole way. If you do end up watching it, I hope you enjoy all the same aspects as I did because I loved every bit of it.
Thank you for your time.
