The Demon Faction's Return · review
An alright read, that rises to a pretty good one for fans of either murim or regression stories. One of the bigger pluses is a generally conclusive, albeit somewhat rushed ending. There are some loose threads by the end, and for a series of this length too much has been introduced and left out without satisfying resolution. Chekhov would not be pleased. The art is pleasant and consistent throughout the series. Most characters are relatively easy to distinguish from each other, they are expressive and their expressions fit the moment. Body proportions and movement are drawn realistically. Backgrounds, especially architecture are interior design, are detailed, andinteresting, but not overcrowded. Outside locattions are drawn in a pretty simplistic style, but never feel empty and unfinished.
Characters are interesting, their actions and decisions generally make sense. Reletions between them feel human, whether they team up or quarell. Main hero is compelling, and what's interesting he's not really driven by vengence as is often case with regression stories, but rather just tries to survive himself.
Pacing is best during beginning, and weakest during ending. First chapters feel much longer than they are, but they aren't dragging, rather there is a lof of information packed into them.
